...பொய்யிலாத மணவாளமாமுனி
புந்தி வாழி புகழ் வாழி வாழியே! Mamunigal Thiruvadhyayana Utsavam(Theertham) @ Srirangam
Dear Srivaishnava Bhaghavathas:
Today is our
beloved Acharyan's Theertham(Thiruvadh yena Uthsavam) , it gives all of
us a privilege and divine opportunity to be a part of VaravaraMuni
Adiyar Kuzham or VaraVaraMuni Sambandhis .
Adiyen would like to share Swami MAnavalaMamunigal' s Theertham @ Srirangam:
|
|
|
|
Theertham
|
The
day on which our acharya leaves this Bhoologam(their Sookshma Athma
leaves their Sareeram and attains Pramapatham with Sriman Narayana) is
celebrated every year as Thiruvadhyayanam or Theertham.
|
|
Why we need to Celebrate Theertham?
|
Generally
when some one leaves Bhoologam (Their Athma leaves their Sareeram), the
day of such incident is remembered in vedic terms as Thithi or Thivasam
or Srardham. But same incident when happens to a SriVaishnava or to our
Acharya is considered to be Thiruvadhyayanam or Theertham. The reason
for these terms for this day is because on this day:
Thiruvaimozhi
is chanted so Thiruadhyayanam - adhyayanam means practicing/chanting of
vedas and Sripadha Theertham of the departed Srivaishnava or our
Acharya is accepted by all ..
so its called Theertham. Their
direct disciples of the departed Srivaishnava (or Acharya) must
observe the above mentioned activities on the rememberance day .
Especially disciple, every year, must celebrate the day on which
his/her acharya attained the divine abode of Sriman Narayana. The
appearance day of the acharya is mentioned as Thirnakshthra paripalanam
and the disappearance day is mentioned as Thiruvadhyayana Thirtha
paripalanam.
|
Why
we don't celebrate Theertham usually for other Acharyas in a grand
manner? why for our beloved Acharyan , our Visadavak sikamani, Swami
Manavala MAmunigal
|
Swami
Manavala MAmunigal is acutally punar avatharam of our beloved
ParamaAcharyan Swami Emberumaanar, Ramanujar. Our ThenAcharya
Sampradaya Guru paramparai starts with Nammazhwar, has Emberumanar
(Ramanujar) in the middle and Sri Manavala Mamunigal as the last
acharya in the acharya rathna haaram.

Because except for our beloved Acharyan Manavala Mamunigal no other acharya in our guru paramparai has a surviving disciple today, we celebrate only the Thirunakshatram (appearance day) and not the Theertham (disappearance day) in a grand manner.
But for our beloved Visadavak sikamani swami Manavala Mamunigal, we
celebrate both Thirnakshatram and Theertham in grand manner.
Especially, this is only happening every year in the grand manner, in
Manavala Mamunigal Sannithi at Srirangam Periya koil with the Acharya
Sambhavanai from periya Koil beloved Namperumal Renganathan.
|
Why in Srirangam and not in any other Divya Desam in a grand manner?
|
For our beloved acharyan Manavala Mamunigal, we celebrate both Thirnakshatram and Theertham in a grand manner. Especially,
this is only done in the Manavala mamuni sannithi in Srirangam Periya
koil. The reason for this celebration only happening for Manavala
mamuni in Srirangam and not anyother divya desam is:
It is
quite well known that, our beloved Namperuam, Sri Ranganathan accepted
our swamy Sri Manavala Mamunigal as his acharya and being a
disciple of all incomparable heard lectures from Swami for a full year
based on the vyakyanams of Thirvaimozhi especially Edu of Nampillai.
On
the day of completion of the series of lectures (Satrumurai) , Sri
Ranganathan appeared as a small child(Aranga NAyagam) and offered a
|"SrishailEsha dhayapAthram| "(thanian) in praise of his acharyan that is our beloved Acharyan swamy Sri Manavala Mamunigal.
Since
then, Sri Ranganathan sends special offerings on the appearance day
from his Periya Koil Sannithi from only at Srirangam and the appearance
day is celebrated under the leadership of Sri Ranganathan himself. Same
way, since Swamy Manavala Mamuni attained parama padham, every year, on
Masi Krishna paksha Dvadasi day, many special offerings come from Sri
Ranganathan (Periya perumal) sannithi and the day is celebrated in a
grand manner.
When our swamy
Manavala Mamunigal reached parama padham, our beloved Namperumal Sri
Ranganathan ordered to conduct both Thirunakshatram and Theertham
celebrations under his leadership with offerings sent from his own
Periya Kovil Sannithi. So the Archakas from Periya Kovil come and offer all the prasadham to Mamunigal.
 And
because our Namperumal Sri Ranganathan, a direct disciple of Swamy
Manavala Mamunigal is present today, in Sri Rangam alone, the Theertham
is celebrated in a grand manner in Pallavaraya Mandam( srirangam
Manavala Mamunigal Sannithi).

Thoti prasadham
(special) ONLY on swamy Mamunigal Theertha Prasadam
|
What is this Thoti Prasadham? On this Theertham day, there are two prasadams offered,
1)Curd rice with salt offered from Periya Kovil Sannithi 2) Curd rice WITHOUT SALT prepared and offered only at Sannithi for Mamunigal.
Swamy
ManavalaMamunigal during his Eedu Kalakshepam and during old age wanted
to avoid particularly having salt in his prasadam to have more Sadhana
towards Emberuman Renganathan. That's why still the curd rice prasadam
is offered Without Salt. This is the Thoti Prasadam (Prathishtai only
in Srirangam). The thoti prasadam is offered for swamy Mamunigal
inside in his own (Amuthu Unna KAl), - Amuthu Kal in his own small
perai inside the sannithi.
